In 2008, I spent about 3 months in England, over 2 visits. Then, I moved there from Chicago in early 2009. Therefore, there is a lot that I’ve never seen. I kind of want to make a list of 101 things to see and do in England (or the UK in general) but am not always sure what is worth doing, so I am asking the internet for help.
I am pretty open minded about the kinds of things I enjoy doing. If I had to choose forever, though, I’d rather play in the dirt on a scenic hill top than people-watch on a busy city street.
I’ll start with a few I’m kicking around for this spring:
- See some live music in the local cathedral.
- Go walking around Windermere.
- Stonehenge
- Watch the tide come in along Morecambe Bay
- Explore Silverdale
What would you recommend? I will edit the list as we go.
I suggest you get hold of a book called “Bollocks to Alton Towers: Uncommonly British Days Out”. It is a sort of guide to the weird and quirky places to visit in the UK, and a funny read too.
